A Matter of Honor is a quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The next target is a Dunmer named Alval Uvani who is a traveling merchant.

Walkthrough[]
This mission can be rather difficult for the Hero for two reasons. One, Alval is a traveling merchant, and as soon as one fast travels to his location, he most likely will be somewhere else. A schedule is included with the orders to make him easier to find. Otherwise just ride on a horse to catch up to him instead of fast-traveling. The second problem is that he is a battlemage (a master of destruction magic).
The order suggests to put out some mead (make sure no other food is around) and let him drink it. As soon as he drinks the mead, he is paralyzed as he has a nasty allergy to honey, from which one can use to finish him off. But there are a few other ways one can try to eliminate him:
- Acquire a Poisoned Apple and use the same strategy as the mead, but instead this time, the Hero does not even have to finish him off, and therefore avoid risking trouble with the law.
- One can also travel to whatever city Uvani is in and wait for him to leave to travel to his next destination. Once he is far enough out of town, it is safe killing him with no bounty added.
- As a wandering merchant, it is possible he has been killed by a beast or oblivion creature before the start of the quest. Also the Hero themselves may kill him before the quest. If this happens, the Hero will immediately be notified of his death upon starting the quest.
- A relatively easy way of dealing with Uvani without much effort, is to simply follow him as he leaves whichever town he currently resides in, until he comes across a bandit or wild animal - and watch as it butchers him. Also, it is a good way to distract/weaken him so the Hero can move in for the killing blow.
Or alternatively, travel to a location in between two cities and wait for him to pass and if the Hero has enough strength and stamina, they can kill him there on the road.
For the reward and next set of orders, head to the Market District of the Imperial City. Behind the Stonewall Shields shop, the Hero will find a hollowed-out tree stump containing the reward and the next orders.

I have picked up my next contract from the dead drop in the coffin outside Fort Redman. I have been ordered to kill Alval Uvani, a Dark Elf merchant who spends his time traveling around Cyrodiil. I should consult the schedule that has been left for me to determine where and when I should strike. Uvani is a master in the Destruction school of magicka, and has killed before, but he does have a weakness: if Alval Uvani drinks Mead, he will be rendered immobile, due to a rare allergy to honey. |
