Ald Marak, possibly also known as Ald Malak, was a strategically important fortress city located on the southern side of Lake Coronati in the southwestern portion of Morrowind about a two weeks traveling distance from Bethal Gray in the Heartlands of Cyrodiil. The fortress was the site of the Battle of Ald Marak where the armies of Morrowind suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Reman Empire. Ald Marak had a sister city on the other side of Lake Coronati known as Ald Iuval.[1]
The fortress was described as having "high, sturdy walls, and deep-water approaches that made assaults on foot nearly impossible."[2]
