For other uses, see Aryon.

Master Aryon is a Dunmer sorcerer residing in his chambers in the stronghold of Tel Vos. He is a councilor of House Telvanni, and is the appointed overseer of Tel Vos. Levitate is needed to reach him. His mouth is Galos Mathendis.

The guards describe Aryon as "half-Telvanni half-Imperial" like his city, which is a Telvanni mushroom growing out of a castle.

Aryon is the most open-minded master of House Telvanni and, because of this, the conservatives disfavor him. He is searching for new allies, as seen in Message from Master Aryon.

Aryon dislikes Archmagister Gothren because he is part of the conservative faction of House Telvanni, and will gladly suggest killing him in the Main Quest or during the final Telvanni quest.

BackgroundEdit

Aryon was an apprentice of Divayth Fyr, and later ascended to the rank of Master in House Telvanni.

Afterwords, he founded the city of Tel Vos near the village of Vos. The citizens of the village say that before Aryon came, they lived in fear and isolation. Aryon then built his new city in an old Imperial Fort, created a harbor and brought mercenary guards to the area. Because of this, he controls Tel Vos as much as Vos.

Aryon is the youngest Telvanni master, according to Master Baladas Demnevanni.

Greeting (after the quest "The Path of the Incarnate", being a member of House Telvanni) "Yes, [PC Name]. I have heard you may want to be the Telvanni Hortator."

Archmagister Gothren "He is the current head of House Telvanni. He has held this position for many years. If you need to speak with him, you may find him in Tel Aruhn. If you have never been there, Tel Aruhn is west of Sadrith Mora. I will mark it on your map."

choose a Hortator "A Hortator is chosen by consensus. Everyone has to agree. A single 'no' is a veto. First a Great House has to choose a Hortator. Then that Hortator has to go persuade the other Great Houses to agree to name him Hortator of their houses, too."

Hlaalu Hortator (as a member of House Telvanni) "There are two men you should speak with. Orvas Dren at the Dren Plantation and Crassius Curio in Vivec."

Hlaalu Hortator (as a member of House Telvanni, after the quest "Hlaalu Hortator") "I heard that you were named Hortator by House Hlaalu."

Hortator's duty "A Hortator is a champion who leads by inspiration. He challenges opposing heroes in single combat. He goes on long, desperate quests. He goes alone into the citadels of the enemy. He confronts the dangers no one else in the House is strong enough... or courageous enough... to face."

Llunela Hleran "She is in the Hermitage at the Telvanni Council House in Sadrith Mora."

Redoran Hortator (as a member of House Redoran) "I know little of House Redoran, but I have had dealings with Athyn Sarethi in the past. Perhaps you should speak with him first. He lives under Skar in Ald'ruhn."

Redoran Hortator (as a member of House Redoran, after the quest "Redoran Hortator") "Yes, I heard. You are the Hortator of House Redoran."

Requirements "House Telvanni seeks candidates of high intelligence and dominant will. We value the arts of magic: Mysticism, Conjuration, Illusion, Alteration, and Destruction. We also expect members to be capable of enchanting items"

strong souls "The souls of a summoned creature will work just as well. Just summon a storm atronach, cast soul trap on it, and dispatch it. Do this twice while carrying a powerful soul gem and give the gems to Llunela Hleran."

strongholds "For matters regarding your tower, you should speak with Llunela Hleran at the Telvanni Council House in Sadrith Mora."

Telvanni HortatorEdit

Show: Quest Dialogue.

Greeting (after the quest "The Path of the Incarnate") "I have heard of you, yes. You are the outlander who wishes to be the Telvanni Hortator."

Greeting (after the quest "The Path of the Incarnate", being a member of House Telvanni) "Yes, [PC Name]. I have heard you may want to be the Telvanni Hortator."

Telvanni Hortator (as an Archimagister of House Telvanni) "As Archmagister of House Telvanni, you are uniquely qualified to bear the title of Hortator. There's no need to speak with the others Councilors. I must also give you the Robe of the Hortator. It is an ancient artifact, not used in centuries. I hope you are pleased with it, Archmagister %PCName."
Telvanni Hortator (having gathered the votes of all other Telvanni councilors) "I see you've gathered the votes of all the surviving Telvanni councilors. I, too, am willing to vote for you as Hortator. That means you are now the Hortator of House Telvanni. And I have something for you. It's called the "Robe of the Hortator." It is an ancient artifact, and hasn't been used in centuries. But I think you'll be pleased. I wish you luck, Hortator. I may even pray for you."
Telvanni Hortator "A Hortator is a special champion and war leader chosen to lead a Great House in war. Why do you ask?"
"Ask how a Hortator is chosen." "The Telvanni councilors would have to vote, and the vote would have to be unanimous."
"Tell your story and ask to be confirmed as Hortator." (as a female) "Yes, I understand. You are willing to take the responsibility, and I am willing to vote for you as Hortator. I think the other Telvanni councilors will also cooperate, though some might need a little persuading. Master Neloth is ill-tempered and Mistress Therana is losing her mind. You are not a male, so Mistress Dratha will like you. Archmagister Gothren is another problem. He will not refuse you directly, but will delay indefinitely. I recommend that you to kill Archmagister Gothren."

I think the other Telvanni councilors will also cooperate, though some might need a little persuading. Master Neloth is ill-tempered, Mistress Dratha doesn't like men, and Mistress Therana is losing her mind. Archmagister Gothren is another problem. He will not refuse you directly, but will delay indefinitely. I recommend that you to kill Archmagister Gothren."
Archmagister Gothren "Archmagister Gothren never directly refuses requests; he just delays indefinitely, never giving an answer. I don't know of any solution, other than killing Gothren. I'll tell you plainly. I stand to gain if Archmagister Gothren dies. I say this so you won't think I'm trying to trick you. My advice is still good. Gothren won't name you Hortator, but he'll never come out and say so. And in House Telvanni it is customary to settle disputes in this manner."
Master Neloth "He lives in Tel Naga, the tower in Sadrith Mora. He has a short temper, but he will listen to reason if you are persuasive enough. Do not expect him to be polite."
Mistress Dratha "Mistress Dratha is the oldest living Telvanni Councilor and is sustained by the necromantic arts. She dislikes men of all races, though I do not know why. You may find her in her tower in Tel Mora."
Mistress Therana "She has not aged well and becomes more eccentric every year. Her tower is in Tel Branora, which on Azura's Coast far to the southeast."
Telvanni Hortator "I have given you my own vote for Hortator of House Telvanni. But you must get the votes of all the surviving councilors."
Greeting "Yes, I have given you my support for the title of Telvanni Hortator. You must now win the support of the other councilors. When you have done this, speak to me again."
Greeting "So, have you gathered the votes of the other councilors?"
Telvanni Hortator (having gathered the votes of all Telvanni councilors) "I see you've gathered the votes of all the surviving Telvanni councilors. That means you are now the Hortator of House Telvanni. And I have something for you. It's called the "Robe of the Hortator." It is an ancient artifact, and hasn't been used in centuries. Greeting "What brings the Telvanni Hortator here?"
Telvanni Hortator "I have given you the title of Hortator and the Robe of the Hortator. I wish you luck."
Telvanni Hortator (after defeating Dagoth Ur "You have defeated Dagoth Ur and the Sixth House has fallen once again. You may keep the title of Hortator for a time, as there may still be need for a war leader."
