The Banded Iron Shield is part of a heavy armor set found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is slightly stronger than the regular Iron Shield, but requires more materials to craft.

LocationsEdit

Enchanted and unenchanted variants begin to appear throughout Skyrim at level 1. These locations include:

• Blacksmiths and General Goods Merchants.
• Found as random loot in chests or as a world item.
• Carried by Bandits.

SmithingEdit

A Banded Iron Shield requires no prerequisite Smithing level or perks to forge. It can be crafted at a blacksmith's forge with the following components:

• 1 × Leather Strips
• 4 × Iron Ingot
• 1 × Corundum Ingot

It can be upgraded with a Corundum Ingot at a workbench, however it does not benefit from any smithing perks.

This means the armor cannot be improved past flawless quality without boosting the Smithing skill over 100. This can be achieved by using enchanted items and/or blacksmithing potions to Fortify Smithing.
