Something I'd really like for a future Elder Scrolls game is to have it set in the Summerset Isles. I'm almost 100% positive the next Elder Scrolls is set in Hammerfell or Hammerfell/High Rock. But if I could have a game set anywhere in Tamriel, I'd like to see the main land of the High Elves.
My reasons for this range from many different things, but the first being that not since Morrowind have we been set in an elven dominated province. The Summerset Isles have a wealth of possibilities for the setting as it can truly look alien just like Morrowind did. The landscape of a tropical island with large mountains and beautiful beaches, pink tress, floating rocks and so on. They could experiment with a wide range of different creatures focused more on magical beings. There's multiple islands aside from the main two large islands that we could explore and each place could have their own differences.
As it's describe as one of the most beautiful places in Tamriel, we could see a truly anglic Elven nation that has been wounded by the Oblivion crisis, the colonization of the Empire, and now the Aldmeri Dominion taking control. The cities can reflect the highs elves design of tall structures made of glass! Alinor could be the most beautiful city we visit to date!
It'd also be cool to explore the culture of the Altmer which hasn't been done as much in the games so far, despite them always having to play a huge role in Tamriel. Much like Morrowind we could see new themes and aspects of their culture being truly different and alien to the culture of men. Since Skyrim is very nordic and Cyrodiil was more traditional medieval theme mix with the Roman Empire. With the high elves we could finally explore what makes them so superior and great. Their art, their clothes, their fabrics, and so on. Their religion, their magic, and their fighters.
In terms of story we could have a story that focuses on the 2nd Great War and the Aldmeri Dominion. Seeing the side of the High Elves and choosing to maybe help the Dominion or possibly the rebellion within Summerset. We could maybe even deal with a faction of the Imperial Legion infiltrating the Dominion. The world threat could also have to deal with the elves dealing with magic that is off limits and the Psiijic Order could play a role in the main story, with possibility of joining them if you're a high elf.
We could have more faction questlines that are more mage focus (since Skyrim lacked mage stuff). We could have factions that deal with various aspects of magic as well as mage warriors! We could have the same factions return like Dark Brotherhood, Fighters guild, Mages guild, Theives guild, and more Summerset specific factions that can only be found in the high elves province.
In terms of the population we could have a huge emphasis altmer dominating the landscape with wood elves and khajiit being the second largest ground. In the lesser cities or islands we could see various races struggling as the high elves don't support them as much or left over imperial citizens.
For gameplay we can see a game that really focuses on magecraft and spellcrafting. While Skyrim was heavily emphasize on physical combat, we can see more magic and diversify that aspect. See new magic we've never seen before.
There's honestly so much potential and I'd really like to see something completely different than what we saw in Skyrim or Oblivion. I'd love to see a completely different world and an alien culture in Tamrial akin to Morrowind. Anyways, for anyone who read this let me know your thoughts? Do you agree? What possibilities in the Summerset Isles could we see? If you don't agree, what location do you think would work better?
