The Cairn Bolete is a bright, thick type of mushroom found growing in dark places throughout Cyrodiil, and is especially abundant in and around natural cave formations and mines.

Cairn Bolete Caps are gathered as alchemical ingredients and are generally considered to be the bread-and-butter of many Novice-level alchemists, being one of the few ingredients used to create Restore Health potions at a very low skill level. According to lore, Cairn Boletes are said to mark a place where a person has died.
