The maximum amount of apparel that can be worn is seven items (head, torso, feet, hands, fingers, neck and in your hands).Your shield is also an apparel item. Items can be obtained at a blacksmith, shop, when traveling and also after quests. If you are following the main quest, some items can't be held forever. Like The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller In the character menu there's a tab called: Items. Go there and you will see another menu with the following options: all (named with character's name), weapons, apparel, potions, books, keys and misc. Go to the tab named apparel and you can check all: clothing, jewelry, armors, shields. most aparel items can be enchanted with skill fortify enchantments. The enchantment glitch allows you to have weapons and armor with points over the thousand. Clothing is very effective when you are playing as a mage, but armor can be more effective when you use the perk Heavy Armor Weighs Nothing and doesn't slow you down when worn. (Or the steed stone.) items are, in the beginning of the Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, more expensive but using the speech skill tree can make prices better.

UsefulnessEdit

Apart from cosmetic and aesthetic value, most every piece of apparel that is not already enchanted can be enchanted at an Arcane Enchanter, where a variety of useful enchantments can be applied (e.g. Fortify Skill, Resist Magic). All clothing that is not classified as "Light Armor" (that is, has an armor value of 0) is also compatible with the Mage Armor perk from the Alteration tree.

How to acquireEdit

Apparel is abundant in Skyrim, and may be acquired through a variety of means. Most General Goods Merchants sell a limited range of apparel and jewelery. The Radiant Raiment, in Solitude, has an extensive supply of apparel available for purchase to all levels. Many NPCs have apparel, some unique, that can be looted off of their corpse, and apparel can be found all over Skyrim, in dungeons and various locations. Chests, wardrobes, and dressers also may contain such clothing.
