Summary
Edit
Speak to Captain Wayfinder to start the quest. He will ask you to retrieve a special type of Void Salts, the Fine-Cut Void Salts. As this is a radiant quest, locations will vary. See Fine-Cut Void Salts for details.
Once the item is retrieved, speak to Captain Wayfinder to complete the quest and obtain 1500
as a reward.
Bugs
Edit
- PC PS3 It is not possible to locate the item before the quest has been started. The journal updates to state that the item should be given to Captain Wayfinder. When you meet with him the dialog options make it possible to start the quest again before completing the quest. The item is then respawned and you are able to collect a duplicate. There is no known way to complete the quest in this case when you have two of the items in the inventory. When you collect the item for the second time the quest marker does not update and there are no dialog options to complete the quest.
- To fix the quest bug, if the Dragonborn has obtained the Fine-Cut Void Salts before receiving the quest from Captain Wayfinder, talk to him and choose the option to immediately give him the Fine-cut Void Salts rather than choosing the dialogue to learn about his story about the Void Salts which trigger the quest. This way the quest can be completed without learning his history with the void salts which his crew misplaced.
- 360 This bug does not occur. If the Dragonborn talks to Captain Wayfinder and initiate the dialogue that would normally begin the quest, the Fine-Cut Void Salts disappear from the inventory and reappear in a radiant quest location.
- PC 360 Occasionally handing the Fine-Cut Void Salts to the captain and completing the quest will not remove it from your inventory. It will no longer be a quest item and can be stored or crafted with (does not stack with regular Void Salts but has the same properties), and it will have infinite uses for alchemy without ever being "used up."
