Darkfall Passage is a location in The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard that can be reached via Darkfall Cave.

Sublocations[]

Entrance[]

After passing through the portal from Darkfall Cave one enters into high-ceilinged tunnel which initially heads north before bending to the east, be aware that a Chaurus Hunter may be found in a cocoon along the path, as well as a few Falmer enemies further on, the tunnel leads a cave with a low ceiling. A pool in the eastern part of the room leads down to an underwater tunnel about half-way down the eastern rock face, which goes east into a secret room containing minor loot, a couple of Gleamblossom plants, some Glowing Mushrooms, and a skeleton containing Darkfall Passage Note I. It may be advisable to turn to the brightness up if one is unable to see the tunnel in the murky depths.

Falmer village[]

Going back through the underwater tunnel to the low-ceilinged cave, cross to the other side of the room, along the western wall is an opening which leads down another tunnel towards a Falmer village. On the northern side of the village is a Falmer tent with a walkway in front, inside this tent is a table with several potions on it. The large tent with the Chaurus figure atop it, on the western side of the village, besides the waterfall, contains a Falmer chest.

From the village, one should pass through the waterfall, on the other side there is a hidden door to the south, which cannot be opened from this side, whilst the path to the north leads to a small gathering of Falmer buildings, with at least one Falmer to be found. In the middle of the clearing is a clearly-visible chest surrounded by Gleamblossom. Be aware that this chest is trapped; when the chest is opened two Falmer swinging claw traps drop from the Falmer bridge above the chest and are capable of causing massive damage as well as alerting the nearby Falmer if they still live.

It is possible to fall through the waterfall, which leads to a secret path containing a chest and a skeleton containing minor loot. A path from the chest leads to the hidden door to the south of the waterfall, which is opened with an illuminated pullchain.

Deep tunnels[]

Crossing over the aforementioned bridge leads to a fenced-off area with a ramp to its north. Within this fenced area is a chest in the southern tent and a table with random potions in the northern one. The ramp to the north serves merely to bypass this area, making it possible to sneak past the Falmer on the other side. From this area, a room with a large crystalline formation is visible, the path around this formation heads south, then bends to the east, ending in a Chaurus pen. Beyond this pen is a Falmer tent, which contains a chest, flanked by two Falmer bridges leading through a massive waterfall. There is likely to be a Falmer in the tent, and once the Dragonborn moves to the bridges, two Falmer appear, one on each bridge. Both of these bridges lead to the same place.

The path splits in two directions. To the south is a room with a trapped entrance containing a couple of Falmer buildings (one of which contains an Alchemy Station), a trapped chest, and a few Chaurus Hunter cocoons, whilst to the north is a tunnel down which is a rock-fall trap and some bone chimes. Further down the tunnel is a ramp along one wall, and besides this ramp is a skeleton with a satchel containing random potions and alchemical ingredients. Following the tunnel on, one will soon come across a skeleton holding Darkfall Passage Note II, besides which lies a leveled potion and shield. Beyond are two rope pulls, the left-hand one is the correct one, which opens a hidden door to a Vale Sabre Cat perched on a rock. The tunnel opens up into a massive cave, a rocky path on the northern side leads down to the cave floor. The path crosses a few rock bridges over the huge pool, to the south, after which another Vale Sabre Cat can be found. Dispatching this creature, another rock bridge heads upwards, to the north, then west, and ends at the wayshrine, besides which stands the ghost of Prelate Sidanyis, the wayshrine leads to the Forgotten Vale.
