Greymoor otherwise known as Black Moor or Darkmoor is a fortified settlement in Skyrim situated in Whiterun Hold. It serves as the military stronghold in the Whiterun Hold.

Greymoor is located on the open grasslands in the Whiterun Hold, and it has a perfect look of the entire region. Greymoor has one entrance that leads to the city of Whiterun and the inner courtyard. Greymoor Keep is located on the western wall.

Second EraEdit

Darkmoor was the ruling stronghold of County Darkmoor in Skyrim, and it was under the control of Count Sven Advensen and Lady Inga Advensen. Sven and Inga were distant relatives of the original owners of Darkmoor; they were not legitimate heirs to the throne of Darkmoor. They were also the caretakers of the young Barenziah, the future queen of Wayrest and Mournhold. Barenziah resented Sven and Inga for their illegitimacy and because of this, she ran away from Darkmoor to the city of Whiterun with a dim-witted stableboy named Straw. She eventually discovered her heritage in Riften by Symmachus and returned to Morrowind.[1]

Third EraEdit

Main article: Black Moor

During the Imperial Simulacrum, the Blackmoor township existed in Skyrim just west of the city of Whiterun. At one point, the Eternal Champion had visited the town in their quest for a piece of the Staff of Chaos to defeat Jagar Tharn at the Imperial Palace.

Fourth EraEdit

Main article: Fort Greymoor

Fort Greymoor was a major military bulwark that protected the city of Whiterun from foreign invaders from the west. Those who took Greymoor had control over Whiterun and the Hold. At this point, a group of Bandits overran the fort and used it as a redoubt. Whiterun remained neutral in the Skyrim Civil War, so the fort had no real ruler.
