Dispel is a spell and a magic effect that removes magical effects. It is a member of the Mysticism school of magic, governed by the Willpower attribute. It does not have a duration; the effect occurs immediately upon being cast. Dispel's magnitude directly corresponds to the percent chance that it will be successful in removing effects.

Uses[]

Dispel is versatile in that it can be used by casters to remove detrimental spell effects from themselves, or be used against opponents to remove their beneficial effects. Note that there is no distinguishable difference between the two, dispel removes both positive effects and negative effects regardless of who casts it or who is targeted.

This effect is particularly useful when fighting mages and necromancers. It can be used to disperse summoned creatures, as well as removing bound items, magical shields, and a myriad of other spells. Potions of Dispel are particularly useful in combat. They can aid spellcasters by removing a Silence effect, and are invaluable to all classes by being the only option available to prematurely remove a Paralyze effect (only ingredients and potions can be used while paralyzed).

While Dispel can be used in wide variety of applications, it does not affect any magical effects occurred from potions or constant effects (these can include: abilities, curses, diseases, or enchantments).

Spell and variants[]

The Dispel spell is cast on self, has a 100% chance of success, and consumes 25 Magicka. The variants have significantly lower costs, chances of success, and can be cast on others.
