"It would be erroneous to conclude that dwarven smiths did not take the manufacture of their weapons and armor very seriously. Every piece of war crafts I have examined show a remarkable amount of unnecessary detailing and personalization that is just as evident today among the most ardent blacksmiths."

Dwarven Armor is a set of heavy armor that appears in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This ancient bronze-gold colored armor belonged to the lost race known as the Dwemer, also called the Dwarves, which is how it got its name.

Unenchanted pieces of armor will begin to appear throughout Skyrim at level 12 and enchanted variants can be found at level 13. These locations include:

Fixed locations

Dwarven Armor requires a Smithing level of 30 and the Dwarven Smithing perk to create. Pieces can be forged at a blacksmith's forge with the following components:

Pieces can be upgraded with a Dwarven metal ingot at a workbench and also benefit from the Dwarven Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

The quest Unfathomable Depths rewards the Dragonborn with a permanent effect called Ancient Knowledge. This effect is supposed to grant a 25% bonus to armor when wearing a full set of Dwarven Armor, however, it actually gives a 25% bonus to both all light and heavy armor types.

  • When a guard is approached, they may compliment the Dragonborn's armor and say "Fine armor you've got there. Dwarven make, am I right?"
  • Calcelmo, a scholar in Understone Keep, has a particular interest in many of the rare Dwarven items, and will sometimes ask the Dragonborn to bring him any pieces of Dwarven armor if found.
  • Due to the fact that Dwarven Armor fits all characters, it could be assumed that the Dwemer were of normal height, despite being known as Dwarves. However, this could just be due to the game's design, so the Dragonborn could wear the armor.
  • The facial expression on the helmet is dependent on the gender. For instance, if a male were to wear it, the facial expression would be in a sort of of grimace, whereas when a female wears it, the helmet appears to smile.
