"It would be erroneous to conclude that dwarven smiths did not take the manufacture of their weapons and armor very seriously. Every piece of war crafts I have examined show a remarkable amount of unnecessary detailing and personalization that is just as evident today among the most ardent blacksmiths."
Calcelmo, Dwarves, v2

Dwarven Armor is a set of heavy armor that appears in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This ancient bronze-gold colored armor belonged to the lost race known as the Dwemer.

Unenchanted pieces of armor will begin to appear throughout Skyrim at level 12 and enchanted variants can be found at level 13. These locations include:

Fixed locations

  • Nchuand-Zel - a full set of Dwarven armor behind an expert locked gate in the Nchuand-Zel Armory.

Smithing

Dwarven Armor requires a Smithing level of 30 and the Dwarven Smithing perk to create. Pieces can be forged at a blacksmith's forge with the following components:

Pieces can be upgraded with a Dwarven metal ingot at a workbench and also benefit from the Dwarven Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

Quests

The quest "Unfathomable Depths" rewards the Dragonborn an effect called Ancient Knowledge. This effect is supposed to grant a 25% bonus to armor when wearing a full set of Dwarven Armor, however it actually gives a 25% bonus to both all light and heavy armor types.

Trivia

  • When approaching a guard, they may compliment your armor and say "Fine armor you've got there. Dwarven make, am I right?".
  • Calcelmo, a scholar in Understone Keep, has a particular interest in many of the rare Dwarven items, and will sometimes ask the Dragonborn to bring him any pieces of Dwarven armor if found.
