- For other uses, see Dwarven Shield.
The Dwarven Shield is a piece of heavy armor and part of the Dwarven armor set found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Locations[]
Unenchanted armor will begin to appear throughout Skyrim at level 12 and enchanted variants can be found at level 13. These locations include:
- Blacksmiths and general goods merchants.
- Found as random loot in chests or as a world item.
- Commonly used by bandit chiefs.
Fixed locations[]
- Mzinchaleft Gatehouse – In the final room, on a stone table in the upper balcony area.
Smithing[]
A Dwarven Shield requires a Smithing level of 30 and the Dwarven Smithing perk to forge. It can be crafted at a blacksmith's forge with the following components:
- 2 × Dwarven Metal Ingot
- 1 × Leather Strips
- 1 × Iron Ingot
- 1 × Steel Ingot
It can be upgraded with a Dwarven Metal Ingot at a workbench, and also benefits from the Dwarven Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

Trivia[]
- One of the loading screens features someone clad in full Dwarven armor. Interestingly, the shield shown on the loading screen has two handles; a horizontal one near the bottom of the shield, and a vertical one in the center. In-game, there is only one handle on the Dwarven shield, which is the vertical handle.
