Main article: Weapons (Morrowind)

The Eltonbrand is an Easter egg weapon in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It is obtained through a long and difficult process.

Acquisition

The first method works with Morrowind Patch Project 1.6.4 or higher and the second works for lower versions of the patch or unpatched versions of Morrowind.

  1. Get the Goldbrand from Boethiah's quest and 11,171Gold. When the Nerevarine has precisely 11,171Gold and Goldbrand, they will see a message box saying "Go to Hell, Carolina!".

The second method in the unpatched version of Morrowind is much more complicated.

  1. Get the Goldbrand from Boethiah's quest.
  2. Become a vampire.
  3. Do the Shashev's Key quest for Sirilonwe in the Ald'ruhn Mages Guild.
  4. Carry exactly 11,171Gold before talking to Sirilonwe again.
  5. Once the Nerevarine does all of the steps, they will receive the message, "Go to Hell, Carolina!" while talking to Sirilonwe, and the Goldbrand will change into the Eltonbrand. This is a reference to Elton Brand, a former Duke Basketball player and the No. 1 pick in the 1999 NBA draft.

The easter egg was created by Mark Nelson (BlueDev) who is a Duke Basketball fan. Their greatest victory was a 111 - 71 victory.

Eltonbrand is objectively superior to Goldbrand, doing 10 more damage, with two additional enchantments, as well as 100 uses of its enchantments, as oppposed to Goldbrand's 10.
