"The northern port of Farrun welcomes you into her icy hold. Feel not the bite of winter, nor the edge of the wind..."
―Description in Arena[src]

Fharun, otherwise known as Farrun or Fharun Stronghold is a city located on the northern shores of Wrothgar in the Western Reach. Fharun is considered one of the eight kingdoms in High Rock among smaller political regions.[1]

Description

Geography

Fharun is located on the northern mountains of Wrothgar near the Sorrow peak in the Druadach Mountains. Fharun was built on a large mountain overlooking the Sea of Ghosts and the Great Bay to the west. It's a long trek to the top of Fharun, but upon arriving, the town square is where a majority of buildings are located. The well is located dead in the center marking the square. Fharun Keep is located north of that on the highest cliff. The Feast Hall is on the southern end while the Longhouse is on the northwestern end.

History

First Era

During the Four Score War in 1E 2920, the Battle of Bodrum commenced on the 20th of First Seed near the border town of Bodrum. To the west was Emperor Reman Cyrodiil III of the Second Empire, Reman assembled armies from the cities of Farrun, Lilmoth, and Riverhold at Caer Suvio. A man named Storig was famous in Farrun and had a military record worthy in the Reman Empire. Storig along with Queen Naghea of Riverhold lead the left flank while Warchief Ulaqth lead the right flank. To the east was Lord Vivec of the Tribunal of Resdayn, with his army of Dunmer assembled at Ald Erfoud. In the end, Vivec won the battle for Morrowind by cutting trees along the Pryai River.[2]

Second Era

King Bazrag

Chief Bazrag gro-Fharun.

In 2E 583, Fharun Stronghold was one of the most prominent strongholds located in Wrothgar. The city was ruled by Chief Bazrag gro-Fharun who was a firm believer of Malacath, the Daedric Prince of the Sworn Oath and the old traditions the Orcs have followed from the very beginning. In his youth, Bazrag was close friends with Kurog gro-Orsinium, the Orc who would create the second incarnation of Orsinium. [OOG 1]

Bazrag along with the other chieftains in Wrothgar dreamed of a united Orcish kingdom in the form of Orsinium. However, every chieftain other than Kurog believed in Malacath rather than Trinimac which Kurog was a firm believer. Kurog was enraged, and through the corrupted guidance of his mother, Forge-Mother Alga, Kurog had every chieftain in Wrothgar be assassinated by a group known as the Vosh Rakh. A traveler referred to as the Vestige was beckoned to Wrothgar and eventually was caught up in the situation.[3]

The Vestige was sent to Fharun Stronghold to find that the Vosh Rakh had taken control of the stronghold. Chieftain Bazrag was captured in the Fharun Prison, and it was up to the traveler to free him. Kurog was disillusioned and stubborn to realize he was tearing the Orcish people apart. Bazrag was the only one capable of ruling Orsinium at this point. After a final battle atop of Scarp Keep in Orsinium, Bazrag gro-Fharun was named King Bazrag of Orsinium.[4][5][6]

Third Era

Main article: Farrun

During the Imperial Simulacrum, the Eternal Champion had at one point visited the city in their quest for a piece of the Staff of Chaos.

In the late third era, Farrun was bitter enemies with the Nordic city-state of Solitude located on the other side of the Druadach Mountains. In 3E 246, the kingdoms of Farrun, Solitude, and Cascabel agreed to a truce.[7]
