For other uses, see Beggar.

Beggars can be found in all of the major cities in Skyrim. However, unlike the beggars in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the beggars in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have no affiliation with the Thieves Guild. A Letter of Inheritance may be received if they are killed after being helped by the Dragonborn.

The Gift of Charity[]

"Oh, thank you! Divines bless your kind heart!"
―Beggars

Donating 1 Gold to any beggar will grant the passive ability The Gift of Charity, which boosts Speech by 10 points for an hour. Giving a beggar money is considered helping them, and they will be friendly with you afterwards.
