Walkthrough[]
Upon completing The Army of Meridia, King Laloriaran Dynar will ask you to lead the forces in the assault on the chasm, a narrow strip of land directly north of the Hollow City that houses the gatehouse to Molag Bal's personal domain. Cadwell will be waiting at the city gates to provide you with information. Speak with him and he will tell you that the way through the chasm is blocked by focus crystals. The crystals are protected by hordes of dremora, so the army cannot handle it. Cadwell asks you to destroy these stones.
Head through the gates and north into the chasm. After heading about halfway across the bridge, head back and speak with Gathwen, one of your scouts, for information about the chasm. She will tell you that destroying the focus crystals will allow the army to progress to the upper level of the chasm, which is protected by Molag Bal's daughter, Molag Grunda. Head out and destroy the crystals. The first one is immediately to your right after crossing the bridge, the second immediately to your left. From there, head west across the bridge to find the third crystal. Head south from there to find the fourth and last crystal.
After you have destroyed the last crystal, a portal will open to the upper levels on the altar near you. Cadwell will be standing next to it; you should speak with him. He will warn you that Molag Grunda is supponing reinforcements faster than your armies can take them down, so your help is needed.
Head through the portal to the next level. Your task here is to help close the portals through which the Daedra are getting their reinforcements. There are two of these portals, one is a little to the north of your current location, the other is along the road to the west. each portal will spawn multiple waves of Daedra before you can close it, so take care not to be overwhelmed. Also, make sure to collect the skyshard in the room with the western portal. After both the portals are closed, head to the gatehouse atop the stairs in the northern part of the area and speak with Cadwell there. He will tell you that Molag Grunda awaits in the gatehouse
Head through the door and across the bridge. Cadwell will follow you and give some useful insights on how this place operates. He will tell you that you need to use two flywheels in each of the side antechambers to open the path to the gatehouse proper. The north antechamber will be guarded by a dremora named Xxthauaa and the southern one will be guarded by a dremora named Xznotell. When both are active, you can activate the mechanism to open the main door. Head through and confront Molag Grunda. She will first send the flesh atronach named Tiny after you, then once it is dead she will come after you herself. She is a stronger version of the regular Winged Twilight, so deal with her as you would deal with them. After she is dead, head up the stairs and out of the gatehouse and speak with Vanus Galerion to finish the quest and start the next one, The Citadel Must Fall.
