Karstangz-Bcharn is a Dwemer machine that controls the weather of Mournhold, found in The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal.
History[]
Karstangz-Bcharn, loosely translates to the "Weather Witch,"[1] was believed to be a myth until the opening of Bamz-Amschend in the center of the Plaza Brindisi Dorom, when the statue of Almalexia and Mehrunes Dagon was destroyed during "An Attack on Mournhold."[2] The device was created by the Dwemer, when, at the height of their civilization, they sought to control the weather, to create rain in times of droughts.[1]
Description[]
The device is located in the Skybreak Gallery of the Dwemer ruins of Bamz-Amschend under Mournhold. When the device is activated with a powered dwemer coherer it controls the weather of the city of Mournhold. There are three levers next to it, facing a large rectangular hole in the wall of the Skybreak Gallery, where the depictions of different weathers can be seen. These depictions shift depending on how the levers are positioned.
There are ten possible positions for the levers, each one corresponds to a weather condition:
- Blank (current weather)
- Clear
- Cloudy
- Foggy
- overcast
- Rain
- Thunderstorm
- Ashstorm
- Snow
- Blizzard
