For other uses, see Lich.

Liches are undead creatures that appear in The Elder Scrolls: Arena.

Description[]

Lich (Arena)
"These creatures are wizards who have attempted to cheat death by prolonging their life through the use of spells and such, eventually turning themselves into a form of the undead. Few have ever faced such a creature and lived to tell the tale. It is known that they are very powerful, able to defeat high level characters easily, and able to see the invisible. They are known to have immunity to weapons below mithril, regeneration capabilities, and any other powers that would be associated with a 20th+ level mage. You are cautioned, these creatures are beings of such power that it would be foolhardy to face one without properly preparing yourself with powerful equipment or artifacts."
―Official Arena Game Guide.[UL 1]

Liches are undead Mages who after deceased overcame death and obtained immortality using magic. Though their bodies are just as decayed as those of the mindless Zombies, Liches still have the consciousness they had in life, being able to cast extremely powerful spells.

These undead are described by the Official Game Guide as "very powerful, able to defeat high level characters easily," – indeed they are not only the most powerful creature in The Elder Scrolls: Arena, but also one of the strongest in the entire series. These immortal wizards have great skill in Magic, including the black arts.

Their main offensive spell is a shock release which is used both in long range combat and melee. However their skills go far beyond offensive casting; they have the ability to see those who are invisible to common eyes, immunity to weapons below Mithril (with the exception of Silver) and Health regeneration. Liches also have a high amount of Health and experience points.

Lich Side I

A Lich can be a difficult opponent to even experienced adventurers – defeat by their spells is presumable without proper equipment.

They appear in The Elder Scrolls: Arena as rotting undead, with their bones exposed in the back. They also have long red hair and eyes. They wear blue robes and an amulet, and wield a shock staff to use during combat. These undead can be identified by their yell — which is the same used by Trolls.

Overall, Liches are the second strongest creature encountered in The Elder Scrolls: Arena after the Iron Golem, and as such, they are encountered only in the two last main quests of the game.
