Maar Gan is a town of Vvardenfell in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Description[]

It is an egg mining village in the Ashlands, north of Ald'ruhn and is accessible either by foot along the West Gash or by Silt Strider from Ald'rhun or Gnisis. It is under House Redoran control. It is known for its shrine dedicated to a battle between Vivec and Mehrunes Dagon.

The town has, among its citizens, members of the Mages Guild, the Fighters Guild and the Tribunal Temple, and is under the protection of Redoran guards.

Set among the barren foothills of the West Gash, inhabited by many creatures such as the Nix-Hounds. Ashstorms are frequent and the area around Maar Gan is also home to breeding Netches.

The outpost has a shrine dedicated to the Tribunal.

History[]

Legends hold that Vivec fought Mehrunes Dagon to protect the people of Maar Gan.[1] Mehrunes was about to throw a large rock at the villagers, but Vivec taunted him, and he threw the rock at Vivec instead. Where the rock fell, the villagers built the Maar Gan Shrine.[2] It became known as the 'Magic Rock,' and is one of the sacred destinations the Tribunal Temple pilgrims visit.[3] This town was known to have been built sometime after the events of the Planemeld.[4]
