Walkthrough[]

When approaching Traitor's Tor, you will come across a man called Scholar Cantier. He will tell you that this is the location of King Ranser's last stand against the Orcs of Wrothgar, and that his ghost still haunts the place. Cantier intends to find out why Ranser's ghost is still here, but he needs your help to get past the undead that infest these ruins.

Head up the stairs and into the Traitor's Tor. Your target is the big tower in the center of the area. You will find a skull here; Cantier will theorize that it belongs to Ranser himself. Examine the skull and you will hear a voice in your head; the skull is not Ranser's; it is the skull of his betrayer. You will be taken into the past to experience for yourself what happened that day. Head outside and speak with General Dathieu there. He will tell you that Ranser's forces are losing the battle, and that the only possible path to victory is some sort of magic that Reezal-Jul gave him. He will ask you to place magical powder in the braziers in each of the four towers, not counting the central tower. The powder will make the flames turn blue; once you have put it in all four braziers, head back to the central tower and speak with King Ranser himself. He will be up one flight of stairs.

The king will tell you that he intends to attack the orcs through the breach in the north wall. He will tell you to go and inform General Dathieu about this plan; the general will still be by the tower's entrance. Dathieu will upon hearing this foolish plan tell you that he would rather betray his king than send more people to their deaths pointlessly; he will ask you to seek out Captain Taern and tell her to stand down and not execute the King's orders. He will tell you that if you cannot persuade Taern and the rest of the king's guard to stand down, it might be best to use a sleep scroll.

The sleep scroll will be in a damaged chest in the northeast of the fort. Note that once you have it, you can no longer talk to Taern and attempt to talk her out of it. If you choose to talk to Taern first, [?]. If you're going with the sleep scroll, you will find Captain Taern between the scroll's location and the central tower. Use the scroll, then head for the north tower to witness a confrontation between Ranser and Dathieu. Ranser will not listen to reason, so Dathieu kills him, but Ranser immediately comes back as a skeleton because of Reezal-Jul's magic. Said magic will cause all of the soldiers here to live forever, though Dathieu's bones will be scattered as punishment for his treason.

After witnessing this, you will wake up in modern times next to Scholar Cantier. Tell him what happened, and he will tell you it is probably a good idea to collect the general's bones from across the ruins, in an effort to break the curse on this place. Grab the skull, then head out and collect the rest of the bones from around the area. One set will be to the southwest, behind a piece of wall. You will find another pile of bones near the entrance to these ruins; again behind a wall. Finally, the third pile will be in the southeast. Once you have collected all of the bones, Dathieu will rise and tell you to meet him where he slew the king. Head there, and you will see Datrieu confront King Ranser again. Ranser will then attack, so you will have to kill him. After this is done, head into the north tower and speak with Datrieu's ghost there to finish the quest.
