Walkthrough[]

At Driladan Pass, speak with Bodring. He will tell you that the pass is under attack by an army of undead led by Prince Naemon. The Mane is fighting the undead here, but he got cut off from the main force. Bodring will task you with making sure he is safe.

Head north through the pass and fight your way through the undead, and you will reach the Old Merchant's Tunnel. You will need to head through here to find the Mane; on the other end, you will find a Bone Colossus bonking on the door. Kill the thing, then head through and you will find the Mane and his companions. Speak with him and he will tell you that Prince Naemon ordered this attack, but then he just left. He will ask you to help find out why these undead are attacking in the first place. For that, he will ask you to speak with Indaenir. Indaenir is right here in the room; Akkhuz-ri will introduce you.

Indaenir will tell you that he does not think the thing leading the undead is truly Prince Naemon. It is inhabiting Naemon's body, but it has different feelings and motivations than him. So, to determine why the undead are attacking, Indaenir will want to consult with the souls of those who cannot be raised; those who are bound to this plane in a state between life and death because they have violated the Green Pact.

Head outside and speak with Indaenir there. He will ask you to find the skulls of the cursed Bosmer, and he will ask one of the torchbugs here to guide you to said skulls. You do not actually need to follow the torchbug; map markers will appear on your map to help you find the skulls. The Skull of Ethril will be just to your north, in a house across the river. From here, head west to find the skull of Ollion in a burning house. Finally, even further west, you will find the Skull of Thraul lying in the field.

Once you have all three skulls, meet up with Indaenir at the stone tablet in the center of the pass. Place the skulls on the table and Indaenir will speak with their souls. You will learn that Naemon intends to corrupt the forest itself and create a new realm called the Shadow Wood. Speak with Indaenir again and he will tell you that the Shadow Rifts that Naemon is using must be closed for the sake of the forest, but that first, it is time to decide the fate of the souls in the skulls. Indaenir promised release to these souls if they cooperated, so you must now talk to them and determine whether they deserve to be released. Once you have decided the fate of all three, speak with Indaenir again and he will ask for your help in protecting him while he closes the Shadow Rifts.

There are three rifts in total. The Northern Shadow Rift will be just to your west, in a cave down the cliff. West of here will be the Western Shadow Rift, out in the open this time. Finally, head east of where you found the northern rift and into another cave to find and close the Eastern Shadow Rift.

Once all of the rifts have been closed, Naemon will take you into the Shadow Wood itself. Talk to Indaenir and he will suggest getting back to Tamriel throuth the Stone Table, as that is where life and death intersect. When you reach the stone table though, you will find a Servant of Naemon there; this shade will pack quite a punch. Kill it to return to Tamriel, then speak with Indaenir. Indaenir will tell you that the corruption continues to grow, and that Naemon must be found and stopped. First though, the people in Marbruk must be informed of what has happened.

Head back to Bodring and tell him everything to finish the quest and start the next one, "Shades of Green."
