The Citadel Must Fall is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Walkthrough[]

When you arrive at the Reaver Citadel Wayshrine, you will see Vanus Galerion arguing with the dremora Lyranth. Speak with King Laloriaran Dynar and he will detail that the city up ahead was taken from Nirn in the not too distant past, and that members of the expedition may know secret ways into the Fighters Guild hall. However, said guildhall is sealed off by magical barriers so that you cannot enter or leave it from the city proper. He tasks you to sneak your way into the city and deactivate these wards.

Cross the bridge and approach the city. There, you will see Lyranth. Talk to her and she will reveal a way into the city; along the east wall, there will be a breach into the city. She will also tell you that the fighters guild hall is near the main gate. Head to the breach and enter the city. Lyranth will once again appear once you are inside. If you speak to her, she will remind you to hurry to the guildhall, west of your location near the main gate. On your way, you will find a building named Bha's Bargains in the southeast of the city which contains the lorebook Oath of a Dishonored Clan.

Once you reach the fighters guild, you will see that it is indeed warded off. The key to removing these wards will be in the building southwest of the guildhall, hidden in the ram horn lamp. Take the key. You will notice that while the streets were pretty much empty before, they are now filled with dremora. Head for the fighters guild and undo the ward, then head inside and speak with king Dynar about the next step of the plan. He will tell you that the fighters guild will fight the dremora here as a distraction while you head to the upper part of the city and activate the portal in the mages guild, allowing the mages to strike from there in a two-pronged attack.

Head to the northwest. As you are on your way, Lyranth will appear again. She will inform you that you will need a key to enter the labyrinth below Molag Bal's lair and find the Planar Vortex. She will tell you to meet you to meet her at the pyramid after you help the mages enter the city, so that she can help you take down the Valkynaz that guards this key.

Head to the upper part of town by using the stairs in the north. The gate to that part of town is guarded by several dremora, so take care. The portal stones needed to activate the portal in the mages guild are scattered throughout the area. One of them is in the cart you see to the southwest when you enter the area. From there, head south into the ruins of the chapel to find the second stone. A third one is in the forge southwest of the chapel. Finally, head directly north to find the last one by the door to the mages guildhall. Once you have all of them, head into the guildhall and place the stones in the sockets on the floor to open the portal.

Vanus Galerion will appear out of the portal. He will tell you that the fighters and mages guilds can now handle taking the city, and will send you to go deal with the Valkynaz that Lyranth mentioned, who is located in the Pyramid in the northern part of the citadel. The entrance to this pyramid is to the north, up the stairs. You will find it blocked by a ward, but Lyranth will be standing next to it. Talk to her and she will tell you that you need her help to get in; only dremora can enter normally, and for a mortal to enter, it requires the freely given blood of a dremora.

After Lyranth opens the door, you can enter the pyramid. Valkynaz Seris will appear and attack you, but several allies including Cadwell will appear to help you. Once he is dead, Lyranth will appear; she is now in charge of the dremora here. She will assure you that you are safe here for the time being, while there is confusion about the change in leadership, but promises nothing for the future. Either way, take the key from the chest that has also appeared, then head outside and north to speak with Vanus Galerion and finish the quest.
