Fire Damage is one of the three main elemental types of Destruction magic damage and an Enchantment weapons can be imbued with, the other two being frost damage and shock damage. It deals fire damage to health and targets on fire receive additional burning damage. Certain enchanted weapons already possess the effect, while other spells do as well.

EnchantingEdit

Main article: Enchanting

This enchantment can be learned by disenchanting a weapon of any type with the Fire damage enchantment already imbued. This enchantment makes the enchanted weapon glow red and set any enemy it strikes on fire, and continue to burn for a few seconds. Any enemy struck while already on fire will take extra damage. The higher the Enchanting skill, the more damage dealt.

UsesEdit

Fire-enchanted weapons are especially effective against Trolls and undead creatures, as they both have a weakness to fire.

Melee weapons are the recommended choice for fire enchantments, especially dual-wielded swords or daggers, as they can deliver multiple strikes quickly and thus not give the burning target a chance to extinguish.

Combined with other effectsEdit

Using the Extra Effect perk, it can be paired with other enchantments to great effect- Fiery Soul Trap can be added to deliver even more fire damage as well as capture the enemy's soul, though adding Soul Trap can do the same as well, minus the extra fire damage.

Absorb Health, stamina, and magicka are useful when enchanting fast-attacking weapons like daggers and swords. Imbuing weapons with both Fire and Shock Damage is most effective against wizards, as some (especially Nord vampires) are immune to Frost Damage.

• Conjure Flame Atronach - Flame Atronachs are conjured daedra that do fire damage.
• Conjure Flaming Familiar - these conjured followers explode when colliding with enemies, causing fire damage.
• Various scrolls contain these spells, thus, by extension, they do fire damage. J'zargo's Flame Cloak Scroll is a unique scroll that causes fire damage to self and surrounding enemies.

Traps and other formsEdit

Hanging oil lamp traps in dungeons can be knocked onto oily floors, to causes large portions of fire damage to opponents. Alternatively, falling on or walking into fire pits, large torches, or forges causes accidental fire damage.
