Fortify Attribute is a Restoration-governed spell effect that temporarily increases the value of an attribute by a certain amount, boosting related skill tests.

EnchantingEdit

In Enchanting, this effect is known as Fortify Magicka. Enchanted armor with this effect can be found, purchased, or crafted at an Arcane Enchanter once the enchantment has been learned. Armor with Fortify Magicka increases the amount of Magicka the wearer has, and by proxy, it also increases the rate at which Magicka refills when depleted, as long as the piece of armor is worn.

Note: Fortify Magicka stacks up. Magicka Regen is slowed down in combat by half the amount out of combat.

Here are the differences between the effects from Fortify Magicka and Fortify Magicka Regen.

Magicka regenerates naturally at 3% of your Magicka pool per second. Having 100 Magicka yields 3 Magicka per second.

If you have 100 Magicka and add 100% Magicka Regeneration, your regeneration rate is doubled and is now at 6%. With a base 100 Magicka you get 6 Magicka per second.

If you have 100 Magicka and boost that with another 100 points with Fortify Magicka instead of going with 100% to Magicka Regeneration, you will have a 200 point pool of Magicka. 3% of 200 is 6 Magicka per second. The same as with 100% Magicka regeneration.

So Magicka regeneration and fortification grant the same Magicka Regeneration Per second (if you are already at the natural 100%, or 3% per second). With this information it is probably best to have a bigger Magicka pool so you can cast more spells, or bigger spells more frequently, before you have to let your Magicka regenerate. But it will regenerate just as fast as if you went with Magicka Regeneration instead (Plus more Magicka means it takes longer for shock spells to drain your Magicka pool dry). This should change your priorities for enchanting and blessings from the nine. Just remember, it looks slower only because there is more Magicka to regenerate. But the Magicka per second is the same.
