Please use this thread to discuss various questions or comments regarding either existing or proposed categories that we have on the wiki.

I'll start off with an obscure one. Folks: with regards to expansions (example: Shivering Isles) - how do you want these named? Currently, most of them are located with names such as "Category:Oblivion: Characters/Shivering Isles". Would you prefer them to stay as such, or would you like them to be Category:Shivering Isles: Characters. Both these ones have merits (the former, because they can be grouped by the overarching game, and appear in search results for Category:Oblivion: Characters. The other one is more searchable when searching for Shivering Isles specifically (for example, folks probably wouldn't think to search for it via the other name).

I guess another, albeit more roundabout, option, would be to have redirects from Shivering Isles: Characters to the other one, if folks prefer. Anyways - any thoughts? Timeoin•Say G'Day•View my work•Skyrim To-Do List 01:51, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

I don't think you knew about this, Tim, but a few weeks ago, Kacj, Elch, myself, and a few others agreed to treat the expansions as if they were stand-along games when it comes to categorization. That's why you're seeing Shivering Isles: prefixes everywhere :). I like this idea, as you said, because readers will likely search for Shivering Isles: before Oblivion/Shivering Isles. So there's that. Also, the game articles themselves are treated as it the expansion are separate games (i.e. The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles). That said, for some reason, I couldn't locate stand-alone articles for Bloodmoon and Tribunal earlier when I was cleaning up Clavicus Vile. Am I missing something?

At any rate, I wish you would've been there for that discussion, so you could've added your two cents before we started making changes. Guess that's what this forum is for :). Whatever we decide to do, it can be easily fixed. Right now, Shivering Isles: Characters is added to character pages through {{ShiveringIslesNPCs}}, so all we'd have to do is change the category on the template, and all of them are fixed. To move pages from Oblivion:Characters/Shivering Isles, we can just have Elch fire up Veetor, right? So that'll save us some time.
