The Gauldur Blackblade is a leveled unique Ancient Nord Sword in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Acquisition
It can be obtained in the ruins of Folgunthur by defeating Mikrul Gauldurson during the quest "Forbidden Legend."
Smithing
The Gauldur Blackblade can be upgraded with a steel ingot and the Arcane Blacksmith perk. As with all Honed Ancient Nord weapons, it benefits from the Dwarven Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

Although the Gauldur Blackblade is a unique item, it can be disenchanted to learn its effect.
Levels
The damage, weight, and value, as well as the magnitude of the enchantment, are based on the level the Dragonborn starts the related quest. The best possible version is available at level 36.

The sword's level is chosen the first time the Dragonborn enters Folgunthur, so if they have completed any quest which sent them to this dungeon before, the blade will be in that level, not the current level.

- PC users can type
player.additem 000F5D1E 1into the console, which lets the game's level system randomly choose which version of the weapon to add.
Bugs

This section contains bugs related to Gauldur Blackblade. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

- Sometimes, the blade may be found on the corpse of one of the Draugr Thralls, rather than Mikrul himself. This can be avoided by killing all the Draugr Thralls first, and waiting until Mikrul is the final enemy to defeat. Everything else that is supposed to appear on Mikrul's corpse will still show up, however.
- On rare occasions, when fighting all three of Gauldursons in Gauldur's tomb, it can be quickly taken from Mikrul Gauldurson before he teleport's back in defeat. It will turn up red in his inventory along with any other item in his inventory, but it can still be acquired, leaving you with two of the Blackblades.
