"You enter the city gates of Helstrom, noticing the dark looks the guards give you. They have a reputation of being very dangerous. Perhaps you can change that..."
―Description in Arena[src]

Helstrom is the capital city-state of Black Marsh and is known for its wonderful yet dangerous alleyways.[1] The impenetrable interior of Helstrom ensures that the city would not be besieged by the Empire.[2] It is one of several possible locations that the Eternal Champion may discover in The Elder Scrolls: Arena.

History[]

First Era[]

At the time of the Second Empire in 1E 2811, the Argonians retreated to the city of Helstrom for its impenetrable walls that no man or mer can breach. Eventually, Black Marsh annexed into Cyrodiil and its Empire.[3] Black Marsh eventually joined the Second Empire at the Four Score War at the Battle of Bodrum.[4]

Third Era[]

During the Imperial Simulacrum, the Eternal Champion had at one point visited the city in their quest for a piece of the Staff of Chaos. The king of Helstrom was King Germanus.[5]
