"I had my doubts about getting involved with Lord Diel. I just wish I'd told Gelvin about them."
Granette Feldrin[src]

House Diel is one of the noble houses of the city of Daggerfall. It is lead by the Lord Alain Diel and his son Leonce Diel. To the people under their employ Alain Diel is known to be an opportunist with little regard for ethics and is known to invent and employ immoral plans for his own personal benefit.[1]

Harpy threat

During the troublesome period of the Three Banners War head of the House Diel, Lord Alain Diel, had come up with a plan to expand the city of Daggerfall along the western coast of Glenumbra, near the Shrieking Scar and profit from the investments.[2]

The plan was to get rid of the harpies infesting the cliffs, but do so by posing as the glorious protector of the city. For additional profit, Alain decided to also capture the harpies.[2]

Large amounts of special elixir was bought and fed to the harpies. It was done by hiring a local fisherman - Halvire Mitrin - to poison the fish he caught and leave them out for the harpies taking. Over time this made the harpies increasingly aggressive.[2]

Lord Alain then hired a newly founded group of mercenaries by the name of Daggers[3] and set out to build a camp. The mercenaries were instructed to capture harpies alive[4] and bring Alain their eggs.[5] The Daggers were told that this was for the investigation,[4] however many of the mercenaries had started having doubts and seeing ulterior motive.[3][5]

The leader of the Daggers, Gelvin Feldrin searched the Miltrin's Fishing Cabin and with the help of Vestige found the Contract with House Diel exposing Alain's plan.[6] When Alain was confronted he threatened to throw the mercenaries in the dungeons of Daggerfall and was sure that his status as a noble would certainly protect him. But to make sure nothing could go wrong, Alain decided to get rid of his accusers.[7] This resulted in the death of Lord Alain himself.[6]

The Daggers later exposed the unsuccessful plans of Lord Alain to the people of Daggerfall and gained some renown for themselves.[3]
