The Imperial City was a city in Cyrodiil.

[edit] Characteristics

The Imperial City was built roughly in the center of the continent of Tamriel and the province of Cyrodiil. It stood on an island almost the size of the city itself called City Isle, an island in Lake Rumare in the Nibenay Valley

In the center of the city sat White Gold Tower, which could be seen from any point on Cyrodiil. The city was constructed around the tower in a circle, with districts coming out like the spokes of a wheel. The districts included the Market District, the Arena District, the Arboretum, the Temple District, the Talos Plaza District and the Elven Gardens District, with Green Emperor Way in the center where the tower was. Outside the city walls stood the Imperial City Waterfront, the Arcane University and the Imperial City Prison.

Underneath there was a sprawling sewer-waterworks, honeycombed under the city and surrounding area. This extensive underground area, comprised mostly of sewers, also contained many secret passageways, ruins, caverns and an abandoned dungeon.

There was also a secret escape route used by the Emperors and the Blades that led from the Imperial City Prison to outside, away from the city.

[edit] History

The Imperial City was originally built by the Ayleids in the Metrethic Era, in the form of White Gold Tower. It served as the center of their civilization until 1E 243, when Alessia and her slave revolution captured it, turning it into the capital of the First Empire for the next several centuries. Later it served as the capital of the Second Empire and the Septim Empire.
