Appearance
The Lexicon is a small, black cube with glowing red hieroglyphics crafted by the Dwemer. It is recieved from an Argonian, From-Deepest-Fathoms, who can be found on the Riften Docks.
Function
The Lexicon is actually a portable information repository, containing the memories and knowledge of countless Dwemer. Accessing this knowledge is done with the use of a Lexicon Receptacle, however, proper use of both the Lexicon and its receptacle are unknown to modern races. According to Septimus Signus, the Lexicon allows users to read Elder Scrolls without going blind or insane.
Once the lexicon cube is returned to its stand in the top left corner is says "Elder Knowledge Received" and grants the perk, "Ancient Knowledge". The perk grants a permanent boost 25% bonus when wearing Dwarven Armor and Blacksmithing increases 15% faster.

Trivia
- The lexicon seems to serve the same purpose as the Holocrons used by the Jedi and the Sith in the Star Wars universe. Holocrons store knowledge and range in shape from pyramids to geometric cubes.
Bugs
- PC PS3 After completing the "Unfathomable Depths" quest, and the Lexicon is removed from the pedestal in Avanchnzel, it may remain flagged as a quest item, meaning it cannot be removed from the inventory. The item can be force-dropped using Console commands.
