Madesi is an Argonian jeweler found in Riften's town square. Madesi lives with two other beggars in Beggar's Row, next to Riften's canal.

Background

Madesi is one of the few remaining traditional Saxhleel jewelers within Tamriel. Bandits and other such troubles have made journeys to mines and other towns difficult. His profession becomes more and more difficult each day, thus he asks the Dragonborn for assistance with obtaining supplies. He rewards the Dragonborn with and an item of jewelry.

To help Madesi, one gold ore, a mammoth tusk, and two flawless sapphires must be found and given to him.

Steal Madesi's silver ring and put it in Brand-Shei's pocket.

Gold Ore 2+ Gold Ores can be found during the quest "Unfathomable Depths," obtained from From-Deepest-Fathoms in Riften. 1+ Gold Ores can be found during Quest Grimsever obtained from Mjoll the Lioness in Riften. 1+ Gold Ore can be found during the quest "The Staff of Magnus." Unlimited Gold Ores can be had via the Transmute Mineral Ore spell which, among other places, can be found at Halted Stream Camp (see below for Mammoth Tusks as well). Mammoth Tusk 1 Mammoth Tusk drops from any mammoth all across Skyrim. 1 Mammoth Tusk can be stolen from a Display behind Hulda at The Bannered Mare in Whiterun. 6+ Mammoth Tusks can be found at a Mine near Halted Stream Camp. 12 Mammoth Tusks can be found here. Flawless Sapphire 1 Flawless Sapphire can be stolen from Temple of Dibella in Markarth. The gem respawns every 30 in-game days. 1+ Flawless Sapphire can be received as reward from "Dravin's Bow," obtained from Dravin Llanith in Merryfair Farm. The gemstone set is random, but saving before returning the bow nets players different gemstone sets every time. A character below level 20 cannot get 2 flawless sapphires as a reward from this quest. 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from a locked Chest located in the Lockpick Practice Room off of Cistern area of the Ragged Flagon. One chest will have a flawless gem, but not always a Flawless Sapphire. 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from a Chest located in Ruined Mining Camp at Alftand. This is level based. Locations which have a chance for these gems to appear are not fixed and what one player finds is no guarantee another player will find the same item. 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained by mining for Ore; although, a somewhat rare occurrence. 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from dead enemies as drop items, but are very rare. 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from a Dwarven chest in the Jarl of Markarth's throne room, occurrence is random. 1+ Flawless Sapphire possibly received if the Jarl of Riften's son is helped by fetching his blade from the nearby blacksmith. He will reward the Dragonborn with a flawless gem (or gems) and some . 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from a Dwarven chest in Raldbthar, after killing Alain Dufont. 1+ Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from the Dwarven Centurion in Raldbthar. 1 Flawless Sapphire may be obtained from one of the shipwrecks in Pilgrim's Trench. 1 Flawless Sapphire may be found on Vex, though she will have to be pickpocketed to get to it. 2 Flawless Sapphire can be found upon finding the Aetherium Forge via the "Lost to the Ages" quest, when tasked to find Smithing materials (optional).

Trivia

• Quest markers do not appear on the map for Ringmaker errands (This is because they do not have specific locations. Mammoths, NPCs, randomly spawned in chest, etc.).
• If the Dragonborn is Argonian, upon exiting conversation with him, he calls them "Marsh-friend." If the Dragonborn is not Argonian, he calls them "Land-strider."
• Madesi (and other vendors in Riften marketplace) can be killed by Thieves Guild members in the random fights.
• Despite being a jeweler and wearing expensive clothes, he sleeps in Beggar's Row on the lower platforms of Riften at night, most likely because of the troubles in his work.
• He can be killed by a dragon (or any other enemy/character) making it impossible to finish the ringmaker quests.
• Completing the quest "A Chance Arrangement" may cause Madesi to send hired thugs after the Dragonborn.
• Madesi takes his evening meal within Haelga's Bunkhouse, after which he sleeps in Beggar's Row.

Bugs

• Sometimes when Madesi is approached he will not be able to be interacted with. Entering and leaving a building should fix this.
• Madesi's base_id is invalid.
• Madesi's Silver Ring is sometimes missing from his strongbox during the quest "A Chance Arrangement."
•  360   When trying to return the quest items to Madesi, when "show on map" is selected, it claims that he is in Fort Sungard rather than Riften.
