The Mane is the formal title given to the ruler of Elsweyr and the Khajiit people.

They are the "spiritual leaders" of the Khajiit^[1][2]. Sometimes, they are successful in bringing temporary peace to the province, however, this does not last very long ^[3]

One famous Mane was Riddle'Thar. ^[4].

It is known that one of the Manes was killed during the Fourth Era, and that this caused a war to break out in southern Elsweyr. ^[5].
