Mourning Stone is an artifact found in The Elder Scrolls Online. It is a powerful relic found in Khenarthi's Roost, originally in the Temple of the Mourning Springs.[1][2]
Description[]
The Mourning Stone can create seemingly endless reserves of water.[2] When at the Temple of the Mourning Springs, it powers the fountain in the courtyard, while when it is at Eagle's Strand, it is in the middle of town, spraying in random directions.
Although the water it creates is a powerful ability on its own, the main reason that it was created by the ancient Khajiit[source?] was to imprison Uldor inside the temple.[1] As long as it is powering the temple, Uldor is sealed inside.[3][4]
Background[]
Prior to the Vestige's arrival on Khenarthi's Roost, Ealcil, Gathwen, and Rurelion embark on an expedition into the Temple of the Mourning Springs. They find the Mourning Stone, and remove it; after being attacking by undead, Ealcil takes it back to Eagle's Strand.[2][5]
Quests[]
Storm on the Horizon[]
The removal of the Mourning Stone marks the beginning of the "strange happenings" regarding the Temple of the Mourning Springs. Razum-dar briefly hints about its existence when he tells the Vestige to speak to Ealcil. Ealcil will fill him or her in further, telling of its properties, as well as how undead attacked the expedition group after he retrieved it.
Tears of the Two Moons[]
Although Ealcil tells about the incident at the temple, he does not elaborate much, eventually going back to studying the stone. In the Great Hall, Rurelion explains that the Mourning Stone is required to trap Uldor in his tomb. Depending on who is chosen to bond with Uldor, either he or Gathwen will fetch it to seal the tomb. After the Vestige completes the quest, the fountain is flowing once again, powered by the Mourning Stone, which is no longer at Eagle's Strand.
Locations[]
This item can be found in the following locations:
- Eagle's Strand – Being studied by Ealcil, prior to "Tear of the Two Moons."
- Temple of the Mourning Springs – After the aforementioned quest.
