"The common Mudcrab can be found by the northern shoreline or along the banks of any lakes or rivers. When not moving, it is easy to mistake for a rock, and uses this natural camouflage to ambush unwary prey."

Mudcrabs are creatures in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Description[]

They are tough and territorial, and groups of them may become troublesome. Individually, they are more of a nuisance than an actual danger.

Mudcrabs are usually detected by the sound of their legs scuttling across the ground. Young mudcrabs have flat carapaces while those of older ones are somewhat conical. Mudcrabs prefer to stay near the water and won't follow the Dragonborn and other beings too far away from their home. Although they are quite weak and can easily be killed by those with even low combat skills, mudcrabs can still deal out plenty of damage to low-level characters. Much like Dwarven constructs, arrows will not penetrate their hard carapace; instead, archers will find that arrows will often deflect off their shells, though they still do damage.

Bugs[]

This section contains bugs related to Mudcrab (Skyrim). Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

  1. Please reload an old save to confirm if the bug is still happening.
  2. If the bug is still occurring, please post the bug report with the appropriate system template  360  /  XB1  ,  PS3  /  PS4  ,  PC  /  MAC  ,  NX  /  PS5  ,  XS  , depending on which platform(s) the bug has been encountered on.
  3. Be descriptive when listing the bug and fixes, but avoid having conversations in the description and/or using first-person anecdotes: such discussions belong on the appropriate forum board.
  • If the Dragonborn sneaks up on a mudcrab while it's crouched (looks like a rock, not moving), it may fall through the world, disappearing completely.
  •  360   PS4   Mudcrabs (of both sizes) often clip into the ground when killed, though usually one or both of the pincers remains above the ground.
