The Guardian protecting the Dark Orb
The Orb Guardian was an Auroran under the command of Umaril the Unfeathered during the Auroran Crisis, who may have been Umaril's second-in-command. This Auroran was tasked with guarding the Dark Orb, a mysterious stone that allowed the Aurorans to return to life after being killed, without having to travel back to Meridia's Colored Rooms.
During the Battle of Garlas Malatar, where the Knights of the Nine launched their final assault on the Forces of Umaril, the Orb Guardian stood with the other Aurorans to hold off the Knights' charge. In the Ceysel level of Garlas Malatar, the Knights were forced to contend with the regenerative powers of the Aurorans, until the Divine Crusader, the Hero of Kvatch, ascended to the Orb's resting place. The Orb Guardian stood against the Hero, but after a brief fight was killed, allowing the Hero to destroy the Orb. The Orb triggered some form of time-stop effect, and both the Knights and the Aurorans, including the body of the Guardian, vanished, leaving the Hero alone in the chamber. Following this and the defeat of Umaril, the Guardian's spirit traveled to the Waters of Oblivion, where it presumably returned to the Colored Rooms in a new body.
