"This one moves! A welcome change. So, mortal, you have found my shrine, and you have seen my followers. They are an embarrassement to me. The fools cast a spell in hopes of summoning me to them. It was prideful and foolish, and it has had its consequences. My followers are trapped between worlds; their bodies here on this plane, their souls in Oblivion. I would have you reunite their the bodies and the souls. I will transport you to the plane of Oblivion in which they are trapped. Find their souls. When all are collected, I will return you here. Return to me when you are prepared."
―Peryite[src]

Peryite is a quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. After a misguided attempt to summon Peryite, the souls of his worshipers have become trapped between worlds. Peryite asks the Hero to travel to the plane of Oblivion and retrieve their souls.

Walkthrough

Go to the shrine on the south bank of the Silverfish River, east of Bravil and northeast of The Lover Stone.

At the Shrine

Peryite (Quest)

Worshippers frozen in time

Upon arriving at the Shrine of Peryite, the Hero will find all of the followers arranged in a circle. They will not respond when spoken to.

Approaching Peryite's statue will trigger the start of this quest. Peryite will inform the Hero that his followers attempted to summon him. However, they separated their bodies from their souls in the process. As a result, Peryite requests for the Hero to enter Oblivion and retrieve their souls.

Realm of Peryite

Peryite (Quest) RealmOfPeryite Soul

Worshipper soul

Within the Realm of Peryite are multiple leveled Daedra and Dremora. The Hero must kill or evade them in order to reach the worshipers' souls before the latter fall into the lava pits in their attempts to escape nearby enemies. All of the souls are marked, and each worshiper will be near large fires, making them easy to locate. The Hero will need to approach and activate the worshiper to save them.

Peryite (Quest) RealmOfPeryite Door

The door to exit

Once all the souls are found, Peryite will summon a gate for the Hero to return to Cyrodiil through. This gate appears at the point of entry to the plane.

Shrine of Peryite

"You have returned my followers, mortal. The natural order is restored, and for this, I thank you. Perhaps they have learned the folly of attempting to touch a Daedric Prince. Take this, with my blessing. May it bring you order."
―Peryite[src]

After speaking with Peryite once more, he will reward the Hero with Spell Breaker: a magical shield which reflects 30% of magic when equipped.

  • Update: After finding the Shrine to Peryite :

I have found the Shrine to Peryite, but something is wrong with his worshippers. They seem frozen in time, mindless. None move or speak. [You must be level 10 to begin this quest].

  • Update: After summoning Peryite:

Peryite has told me that five of his followers, in an attempt to get closer to Him, have transported their souls to a plane of oblivion. The Daedra would like me to travel there and carry their souls back to this world. I should approach the statue again when I am prepared to go.

  • Update: After reaching Er-Teeus:

I have captured the soul of Er-Teeus.

  • Update: After reaching IIvel Romayn:

I have captured the soul of IIvel Romayn.

I have captured the soul of Mirie.

  • Update: After finding all the souls:

I have found all of the souls of Peryite's followers lost in oblivion. Peryite was to open a gate for me when they were found. I should head back to where I entered this realm.

  • Update: After returning from the realm of Peryite:

I have returned to the mortal realm, and the souls of Peryite's followers have gone back to their bodies. I should speak to the Daedra again.

  • Update: After speaking to Peryite:

Peryite was grateful for my help. He has given me Spell Breaker as a reward.

Bugs

This section contains bugs related to Peryite (Quest). Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

  1. Please reload an old save to confirm if the bug is still happening.
  2. If the bug is still occurring, please post the bug report with the appropriate system template  360  /  XB1  ,  PS3  /  PS4  ,  PC  /  MAC  ,  NX  /  PS5  ,  XS  , depending on which platform(s) the bug has been encountered on.
  3. Be descriptive when listing the bug and fixes, but avoid having conversations in the description and/or using first-person anecdotes: such discussions belong on the appropriate forum board.
  • Sometimes, the worshipers may run out into the lava. A fix is to reload a previous save, or run out into the lava and activate them.
  • The worshipers of Peryite are completely invincible, and cannot be killed until the quest is finished. The Hero can use them to improve skills such Destruction, Blade, Blunt, Hand-to-Hand, and any other skill that derives experience by impact.
    • Doing this too much can cause the game to lag, freeze, or crash due to the large number of unreported crimes built up. To prevent this from happening, commit a crime in front of witnesses (any crime will work; stealing or using the Move key on a zero-value item is a relatively easy way to do this), then pay the fine; this will clear all of the Hero's unreported crimes.
