Recover Hrolfdir's Shield is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Jarl Igmund gives the Dragonborn a miscellaneous quest to recover Hrolfdir's Shield, the shield belonging to his father. The quest is labeled "Find Hrolfdir's Shield for Igmund."
The quest cannot be completed if Thongvor Silver-Blood becomes Jarl of Markarth during "Season Unending," because Igmund will no longer offer the quest due to his residence at the Blue Palace in Solitude.
Due to the radiant story mechanics, the shield can be found in a variety of different locations, depending on the Dragonborn's level. Possible locations include:

This section contains bugs related to Recover Hrolfdir's Shield. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:
- Sometimes, when speaking to Jarl Igmund, the dialogue option to start this quest does not show up, and thus the quest cannot be started.
- Fix: The Shrine of Talos in Markarth can be visited. Upon returning to Igmund, the dialogue option will appear. However, this fix may not always work, and reloading to an earlier save may be required instead.
- Hag/Forsworn building nothing may be found in the marked chest, where the shield should be located. In some cases, the chest itself is not even present. The quest is then not able to be completed and as a result it is impossible to become Thane of the Reach and the house cannot be purchased. In the cleared out the
