Red Eagle's Bane is a unique Ancient Nord Sword found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is the true version of Red Eagle's Fury that is revealed during "The Legend of Red Eagle."

History

This sword once belonged to the legendary Reachman known as Red Eagle who is said to have existed around 1E 1030.[1] Ancient tales say that when Hestra, Empress of Cyrodiil attempted an invasion of The Reach, he used this very sword to slaughter thousands of her soldiers before being killed himself.[1]

According to legend, he presented this sword to his people, and swore an oath: Fight on, and when at last The Reach is free, his blade should be returned to his tomb so that he might rise and lead them again.[1]

Acquisition

Red Eagle's Bane can be obtained within Rebel's Cairn during "The Legend of Red Eagle." Red Eagle's Fury must be placed into the slot on the pedestal initially, this will open the hidden burial chamber of Red Eagle. Once Red Eagle has been defeated the sword may be removed from the pedestal, however it will have been transformed into Red Eagle's Bane.

Smithing

Red Eagle's Bane can be upgraded with a Steel Ingot and the Arcane Blacksmith perk at a grindstone. As with all Honed Draugr Weapons, it benefits from the Dwarven Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

  • Sometimes, the weapon will spawn in the hands of a Forsworn Briarheart just above the entrance, even after the Dragonborn has completed the quest and owns the weapon. This will allow duplication until the Dragonborn checks their inventory; they will find only one.
