Unlike most dragons, who possess a body with pure skin, muscle and flesh, these dragons are purely bone, with no muscle mass, or flesh at all.
Gameplay
In gameplay, this dragon is permanently grounded due to a lack of usable wings. This makes pelting it with arrows an easy, and efficient task for ending this undead beast. This fight is not much different, or difficult than a regular Brown Dragon, and given the right weapons and abilities, it can be over quite quickly, as the health pool of this specific beast is lower than other dragon types.

On rare occasions, during a random dragon fight, the Dragon will suddenly lose its skin and become skeletal. The Dragonborn will even receive a Dragon Soul. The Dragon may become unkillable after the transformation.
There is a possibility to turn any dragon into a skeletal dragon. To do so, the dragon must be killed from a distance, and before absorbing the Dragon Soul, use resurrect console command. And when the dragon is brought back to life, the Dragon soul can be absorbed, but the skin and scales will melt away. The Dragonborn must now fight the Skeletal Dragon.
If the dragon is spawned using console commands, it will fly like a normal dragon instead of being on the ground.
If a Skeletal Dragon that was spawned by using console commands is killed, its health bar will disappear, and it won't die afterwards, causing it to keep flying around the area it was spawned in.
Solution: Load a save that doesn't include the Skeletal Dragon that was spawned.
Sometimes the skeletal dragon's mouth will remain moving after it dies.
Sometimes, when a Skeletal Dragon dies, the health bar disappears, and then, a few seconds later, the Skeletal Dragon comes back to life. The player must now fight the Skeletal Dragon multiple times.
Sometimes, if the Dragonborn uses Fire Breath shout in the Skeletal Dragon, he will summon a Fire Atronach with infinite health.
