Soul Shriven in Coldharbour is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls Online. It is the first quest in the game if the player has not purchased the Online: Morrowind or Summerset expansions. Following this quest is "The Harborage."

"Soul Shriven in Coldharbour" is the first quest in The Elder Scrolls Online and acts as the tutorial for the Vestige (if they have not purchased the Morrowind expansion, in which case the tutorial is Firemoth Island). It is located in Coldharbour, Molag Bal's Plane of Oblivion. Alternatively, those who have the Morrowind or Summerset expansion can travel to Daggerfall (Covenant), Davon's Watch (Pact), or Vulkhel Guard (Dominion) and find the Hooded Figure. She will ask the Vestige to talk to the Benefactor. When talking to the Benefactor, however, the Vestige will be taken hostage to Mannimarco and be sacrificed by him.

The quest starts off in the Wailing Prison where the Vestige is locked up inside. The Vestige is then visited by the Prophet who informs them they must help him escape Coldharbour, who in turn will help the Vestige escape. The Vestige must then choose a weapon. After that, they must go through the prison, where they will meet Lyris Titanborn who will aid their escape from a fate worse than death. The direct route to the Prophet's cell will be warded. Another way must be found.

  • The hanging cells and wheelbarrows are lootable.
  • Sneaking in the Undercroft will reveal traps and may allow the player to disarm them.
  • After using the skyshard, use the rift ('E' key). Jumping at it will result in death.

I died, but that was only the beginning...

I awoke in Oblivion. My body is intact, but my soul has been torn from my body. I must find a way out of this nightmare place to reclaim what was lost to me, or I will be damned for all eternity.

I've shown up in an unfamiliar place. The Prophet has shown up as a shade; I should speak with him and see where I must go next.

  • Er-Jaseen is the one that frees the Vestige from their cell.
  • This quest can be skipped once completed by one of the player's characters.
