The Steel Helmet is part of the steel heavy armor set found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. There are two variants, the one in the picture, and a horned variant.

Locations

• Steel Helmets can sometimes be found on guards.
• Possibly found on bandits wearing a heavy armor set.

Smithing

Steel Helmets can be crafted once you have obtained the Steel Smithing perk.

The crafting materials for this piece of armor are:

• 2x Leather Strips
• 2x Steel Ingots
• 1x Iron Ingots

Like any other armor piece of the Steel Armor set, it can be improved using a Steel Ingot.

Bugs

• Strangely, when you are looking into a chest or into a corpse, it has the little triangle next to it indicating it is better than your current helmet, even when you are wearing a dragon priest mask.
