Template:City infobox Sutch, or Fort Sutch, is a major city located on the southern side of the Brena River and is one of the three cities in the Gold Coast of the Colovian West. Sutch could be considered the tenth major city of the province of Cyrodiil prior to its decline.

Description

Geography

Sutch is located on the northern grasslands of the Gold Coast, being built on the southern end of the Brena River near the border to Hammerfell and the city of Rihad. Sutch is a part of the Colovian Estates, a government operating out of Colovia that co-exists alongside the Empires of Cyrodiil. Somes sources claim that Sutch is located in Hammerfell whereas other sources claim it exists in Cyrodiil. What stands in Modern-Day Sutch is the ruins of Fort Sutch, which is located north of Anvil and northeast of Beldaburo.[1]

The city of Sutch is on the Gold Road, where the road continues northwards to the Brena River. East of the city is a road coming out of Sutch where it leads into a small lake. There have been mentions of Sutch throughout the lore of the Elder Scrolls. Sutch has several landmarks including the Blood Dome Temple, located in Lesser West Sutch. The city of Sutch has a marketplace where they sell all sorts of seafood and antiques deriving from the Brena River. The seat of power of the city and county is known as Castle Sutch.[2][OOG 1]

History

Second Era

During the Interregnum, the city of Sutch was well-established and had scholars travel from all over to learn in the Sutchian schools. One such figure was Jorunn the Skald-King of Windhelm, the son of Queen Nurnhilde, who would later go on to become the leader of the Ebonheart Pact. Jorunn had traveled to all sorts of settlements ranging from Elinhir in northeastern Hammerfell and the Skald's Retreat located in the middle of Lake Honrich in southeastern Skyrim.[3]

Sutch remained as a city throughout the Interregnum and was still standing strong, even four-hundred years during the aftermath of the Hammerfell Civil War and in the middle of the Tiber Wars. Before the Tiber Wars, Cuhlecain of Falkreath was able to unite the Colovian Estates and eventually the Nibenay under a single banner. Sutch, along with the other cities in Colovia were among the first to be established under the Third Empire. Cuhlecain would be assassinated by Tiber Septim, who would unite the provinces of Tamriel under his Empire.[4] The last recorded date that Sutch was still a city was in 2E 864.[5]

Third Era

Main article: Fort Sutch

During the Oblivion Crisis in 3E 433, the ruins of Fort Sutch was left abandoned and isolated by the denizens of the Imperial Province. A squadron of Imperial Legion soldiers were stationed at the ruins of Fort Sutch when an Oblivion Gate opened east of the structure. With the help of a warrior, the group was able to destroy the gate and save the area from another invasion. Around the same time, the War of Bend'r-Mahk had ravaged the Western Reach and had involvement with the Empire and other third-party groups. Warlord Roderick and his mercenaries resided in ruins after leaving the war. Roderick fell into a deep slumber, being kept alive by his loyal mercenaries, through powerful medicine. Someone had hired the Dark Brotherhood to assassinate the deathly warlord, which was completed sometime later. Roderick was poisoned and died on his bed.[6][7][8]
