Fjotra

Fjotra, the Sybil of Dibella as of 4E 201

The Sybil of Dibella is a prophetess or leader of the Cult of Dibella. She is in constant direct contact with their Goddess Dibella and through her the cult knows the mind/will of their god. If the Sybil dies, a new Sybil of Dibella is revealed through a ritual, called the "Exhalted Protocol of Dibellan Sybil."

Interactions

The Heart Of Dibella

For being caught trespassing within the Temple of Dibella in Markarth by Hamal, the Dragonborn is punished with retrieving the new Sybil from Karthwasten. Once arrived, asking around will direct the Dragonborn to Enmon, the girl's father. He will say that Fjotra has been kidnapped by Forsworn from Broken Tower Redoubt. Once there, the Dragonborn will have to kill the Forsworn to get to a small tower at the top, which houses a Forsworn Briarheart. Kill him and loot the key to the cell that Fjotra is in. Take her back to the Temple of Dibella in Markarth and the Dragonborn will receive the Agent of Dibella active effect by praying at an altar. This increases combat damage to the opposite sex. After finishing the quest, Hamal will offer Master-level enchanting training.

Trivia

  • It is possible to gain access to the highest level of the Broken Tower Redoubt without going though all the levels by climbing down the mountain behind the castle
  • This quest is linked with another quest given by Degaine, a beggar in Markarth. This quest requires the Dragonborn to steal a Dibella Statue from the temple. If one has the "Talk to Degaine" objective, but instead talks to Hamal in the temple, the Dragonborn will be unable to finish Degaine's quest.
  • It is possible to find Logrolf the Willful, during The House of Horrors, and Fjotra in the same pen if one does these quests simultaneously.
  • It is possible to start this quest without having the Dibella Statue removed from the inventory, or made inaccessible by using physics grab (hold the Activate button) to move the statue near the walls behind the area where the monks are originally communing.
  • Sibyl is the title of several Roman prophetesses, and so it is possible that the position, although with an alternate spelling, is based off of the title.
  • The Sybils of Dibella may be based on the real life Nepali Kumari, who are also young girls brought away from their families to live in a temple to serve as the vessel of a goddess.

Bugs

This section contains bugs related to Sybil of Dibella. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

  1. Please reload an old save to confirm if the bug is still happening.
  2. If the bug is still occurring, please post the bug report with the appropriate system template  360  /  XB1  ,  PS3  /  PS4  ,  PC  /  MAC  ,  NX  /  PS5  ,  XS  , depending on which platform(s) the bug has been encountered on.
  3. Be descriptive when listing the bug and fixes, but avoid having conversations in the description and/or using first-person anecdotes: such discussions belong on the appropriate forum board.
  • Hamal sometimes suffers from the "lightning fast dialogue," the same bug that has been noticed with Esbern, causing Hamal and the priestesses to become hostile. If the Dragonborn is caught by Hamal, the quest will begin.
  • If both "The Heart of Dibella" and "The House of Horrors" quests are activated, and if one goes directly to the Broken Tower Redoubt without having talked to Enmon, Fjotra and Logrolf the Willful will be found in the same cell. Once the cell is opened and Fjotra has been spoken to, she will follow the Dragonborn. However, the quest objective Find the new sybil of Dibella will stay unachieved; thus, the quest will be impossible to complete, even once Fjotra has been taken back to the Temple of Dibella in Markarth. However, the Dragonborn will still receive the Agent of Dibella active effect.
