Note: Before deciding to ascend to either position, you will find it profitable to choose which side to join, then save your game before talking to Sheogorath. Ascend to your position that is not the one you want, then reload and take the quest for the ascension to the one you actually want. In other words, save, pick the one you don't want to be, do the quest, then reload, do the one you actually want, and continue.
