In the first open cave there are two people talking, depending on your level these will be bandits or silverhand, kill these two people. inside this cave there is a ledge to your right which is where you come out at the end of smugglers den. doing a bit of hopping from rock to rock it is possible to bypass smugglers den completely and use this exit to get to where kematu or the piece of wuuthrad or plans are contained in the master chest.
