Level 48?! No wonder it killed me so easily. And so often. (Lv39 Nord)  I was heading north from Refugee's Rest when I came across 2 people locked in battle. A Vigilant something or other and "her". It was only till I had a third of my health left that I realised she was a vamp. I had so many potions... but I had to use 'em all in my desperate efforts to escape. Thank god I found Whirlwind Sprint and the Greybeards upgraded it otherwise I'd have been screwed.

I finally lost her at Traitor's Post which thankfully I'd only just cleared out before and there I saved and plotted revenge. But even then I still kept dying.  I had a Flawless Elven Bow with Glass Arrows that I'd happened upon some time before and sniped her from the hillside. I was some distance away so I managed to hit her a few times before the Drain effect kicked in and she started spamming Shock spells (God I hated that). I tank my way through things so this was a nightmare. And what was worse when I finally got her in the red-red (I'm a pretty decent archer so I did nice damage) and she started to flee I discovered she could teleport (in hindsight it was probably just invisibilty but I'd believe anything at this point). But eventually I finally nailed her with a Glass Arrow in the throat and my nightmare was over and to my glee- no diseases!! And she'd killed the Ice Wolf that had been hounding me since I discovered her!

All this happened about five minutes ago btw. The moral of this story is this, dear readers- Do not. Take a DAMN thing. For granted! I got very VERY lucky tonight! If had been less of the gamer I am now or if I had less potions in my possession I would have lost all my progress since I'd autosaved from Windhelm. These things are dangerous at my current level!
