"Ah, this is the evil Dai-katana (Weapon) that Morgayne Moorsmith (Missionary's name) spoke of. I shall keep it here, where there are many defenses to keep it safe. Morgayne Moorsmith (Missionary's name) said that I should pay you 635 (Random amount) gold pieces for safe delivery."
―The cleric[src]

The Cursed Weapon is a Temples quest available during the events of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. The Agent is tasked with transporting a dangerous weapon, prized by the Orcs, to a temple cleric hidden within a dungeon.

Background[]

[Missionary name] of [temple], in [town], gave me an evil [weapon] to deliver to the [dungeon] so that the orcs could not get it. I have [x] days to make the delivery.

Objectives[]

  1. Speak with the Missionary of a joined Temple and receive the weapon
  2. Journey to the specified dungeon
  3. Enter the dungeon and find the cleric within
  4. Give the weapon to the cleric to complete the quest

Walkthrough[]

After joining one of the Eight Divine temples scattered throughout the Iliac Bay, the Agent will be assigned randomly determined quests to complete by the temple's missionary. Once they have achieved the rank of Initiate or higher, one of the temple's missionaries will offer more difficult quests.

Speaking with the Temple Missionary reveals that the Orcs of Daggerfall have discovered that the temple that the Agent has joined has been keeping a famed, but magically dangerous, Orc weapon from them. Having been attacked twice, the temple now seeks to hide the weapon elsewhere, with a cleric hidden within a dungeon prepared to conceal it once and for all. A temporary enchantment on the weapon negates its effects for the duration of the quest.

Weapon smuggling[]

Having journeyed to the specified dungeon, the Agent will have to battle through numerous Orcs and other local enemies to find the cleric within. During the search various types of Orc will spawn throughout the dungeon, before one will exclaim when hit:

"You must be the bearer of Manshrieker, the holy orc weapon of war. Kill the human! We must have that [weapon]."
Orc[src]

Once the cleric has been found they will pay the Agent a random amount of gold, agreed to earlier, before vanishing with the weapon. The Agent may then leave the dungeon to get another quest.

Manshrieker's revenge[]

"The evil Dai-katana (Weapon), sparks and disintegrates. You suddenly feel very sick."
―Message upon weapon destruction[src]

If the Agent fails to find the Cleric within the time limit, the weapon will disappear from their inventory, revealed by the appearance of a notification. As it disappears, the Agent will be inflicted with Stomach Rot, which can be cured at the Temple for a fee.
