The Elder Scrolls Wiki:Administrators
From TESWiki, The Elder Scrolls wiki.
Administrators or Sysops are editors with extended rights that help them contribute to and modify the site. All administrators are promoted by Angela or another member of Wikia staff, and are normally promoted for life, although they have the right to decline or step down at any time. Administrators are also expected to help other users when nescessary and guide or correct them when nescessary.
[edit] Administrator abilities
Administrative functions include:
- Deleting and undeleting pages, page histories, and uploaded files.
- Locking (protecting) a page so it cannot be edited or renamed by users without admin rights or autoconfirmed status.
- Blocking IP addresses or user names from editing; and very quick "rollback" of undesirable edits.
- Editing the interface by changing system messages and skins.
[edit] Bureaucrat abilities
A bureaucrat can make other users into bureaucrats or administrators on their own wiki.
Bureaucrats can also give users the ability to "rollback" edits not made in good faith.
[edit] Staff
Wikia staff members have full access to all Wikia. They will be shown in Special:Listusers/staff on any wiki. Please use Special:Contact to contact Wikia staff.
[edit] Who are this wiki's administrators?
Here is a list of current administrators:
[edit] Administrative Duties
[edit] Pages administrators should keep an eye on
- Category:Articles proposed for deletion - If a page has been on there for over 7 days, without any opposal, it should be deleted. It cannot be deleted by the person who proposed it for deletion.
[edit] How do I use administrator powers?
See Help:Administrators' how-to guide for a guide on using admin functions.
[edit] What can administrators not do?
Administrators should not use their administrator powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that isn't vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin shouldn't be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the Wikia community.
[edit] Becoming an administrator
To become an administrator you must be nominated by a user. Self-nominations are perfectly acceptable. It is recommended that you edit the site as a normal editor for at least a month before becoming an administrator. Experience of the site is every administrators most powerful tool. Once the nominations has been posted, other users will comment and vote on the outcome. A consensus will be drawn by a current administrator, and the final changes made by Angela or a bureaucrat. For a conensus to be drawn, a minimum of three votes is required.
[edit] How to nominate
For a self-nomination:
{{Nomination|Self|Nominator's Username|Reason}}
For a nomination of another: {{Nomination|Other|Nominee's Username|Nominator's Username|Reason}}
[edit] Example of a Nomination
KickAssJedi would like to nominate Game Lord for an administratorship.
