Creating an account is free and incredibly easy. It also has several other advantages over editing logged-out.

Anonymity under your chosen user nameEdit

Although those editing logged-out are often called "anons" on wikis, they are actually identified by IP number. This is publicly visible in the "history" page and recent changes each time they edit. For many people (for example those using AOL or other large Internet service providers) this doesn't give any information to others. But in some cases, for example if you are editing from a work computer, this may allow others to work out your location or other details. If you are worried about this, you should log in to edit. Your IP address will then not be visible to other contributors.

A way of joining the communityEdit

Becoming known under a user name means that you will be able to gain reputation and recognition in the community. It's difficult to remember whether or not you have met 88.108.20.19 before! You can also make a personal user page once you are logged in. The link to your user page will appear at the top right of the screen. You will also have a personal talk page, and will be notified with a banner each time someone adds a message. Being able to communicate easily makes it a lot easier to build a wiki.

New featuresEdit

Being logged in allows you to rename pages (with the "move" tab) and to upload images. You can also easily view your contributions using the "my contributions" link at the top of the screen, and make a personal watchlist to keep an eye on your favorite articles.

CustomizationEdit

A lot of the look of the site can be changed with customization. Using the "preferences" link, you can change the overall look of the site, your time-zone preferences, search settings, and much more.

Creating an account on Wikia is free, easy, and a great way to join a passionate community of people who love what you love. Having an account also gives you extra abilities and features that un-registered users do not have access to. Your account is used on every Wikia wiki, so you only need to create it once and you will be able to log into every Wikia community.

How do I create an account?

On the top right of every page on Wikia you will find links to Log in and Sign up.

To sign up you can create a new account or use Facebook connect. You can also visit Special:Signup
After choosing to sign up, an account creation page will load, and allow you to fill in your account details.
All usernames on Wikia are unique, and should comply with our Terms of Use.
Once you sign up, you are now a member of the Wikia community!

As a registered user, you are able to:

Keep track of your contributions
Follow your favorite articles and receive notifications about page updates
Create a user page and communicate with other on your talk page or message wall
Personalize your preferences to tailor the functionality of Wikia to your needs and customize your personal stylesheet to change your view of Wikia sites
Upload photos and rename pages

Adjusting your account

I forgot my password. What can I do?

If you forget your password, you can request a new temporary password be sent to you on the Log-in page.
Simply click on the Log-in text on the top right. You can then choose to have a new password emailed to you.
If you remember your password, and simply want to change it, visit Special:changepassword.

Can my account be deleted?

It is not possible for accounts on Wikia to be fully deleted, but they can be disabled.

Can I change my username?

If you want to use a different username, you can request an account account rename.
